This is another song that I’ve attached a memory to. It’s 1984. It’s late on a Friday or Saturday night. I’m watching a video show that aired after the local news. Tina Turner dances around New York, singing, and with everything she does, basically telling the world that she is, ironically, simply the best. It’s not a particularly amazing video. It’s good. But, to be fair, nothing special in the land of music videos.
But for some reason, this song, this video, this woman, earned a place as one of my strange little core memories.
I’m pretty sure that means it’s a really, really good song.
