Project 365 Day #223

“Hunger Strike” from the album Temple of the Dog, released in 1991

Are you looking for the pinnacle of grunge rock? Well look no further, folks, because you’ve found it.

It is the band’s most successful song for a reason. It’s amazing at every level. And I mean every level. Did you know it was originally written simply because Cornell had an aversion to odd numbers so when he realized the album would only have nine songs, he simply had to do something?

It’s more than that though. Cornell once said the song is, “a statement that I’m staying true to what I’m doing regardless of what comes of it, but I will never change what I’m doing for the purposes of success or money.”

Grunge, baby.

See what else I’ve placed on Project 365 here.
