Project 365 Day #208

“Working Man” from the album Rush, released in 1974
Influenced by older hard rock bands like Led Zeppelin, “Working Man” and, in fact, all of the music on their debut album has a heavier feel than the rest of their work. This is not a critique, just an observation. Though John Rutsey is the primary drummer on Rush, they still go hard on the skins in “Working Man.”
Distinctly ‘70s’ in a way not much else of their work is, “Working Man” could be played just as easily by a group like Deep Purple. This is neither a critique nor an observation.
It is a complement.
I mean, you know — you absolutely know — when they played those riffs for the first time, there were chills.
