Project 365 Day #121

Flowers.
They’re so wild we couldn’t get a pic for the album cover.
“Wildflowers” by Tom Petty
“Wildflowers” from the album Wildflowers, released in 1994
According to Wikipedia, “Wildflowers” is one of the most beloved songs. I understand why. It’s simple and beautiful and I’m sure it makes everyone think of someone. For me, it’s my daughter.
The lyrics tell someone that they belong someplace they “feel free,” someplace “bright and new,” and maybe even on a boat. But he also says that this person belongs “somewhere close to me.”
“No one compares” to the person Petty is singing. This is why they deserve all of these great things. This, I imagine, is also why, despite the fact he wishes all of this freedom upon them, he also says he’d like it if they didn’t go that far away from him.
Understand why it makes me think of my daughter?
