Project 365 Day #63

“Tell Me Something Good” by Rufus & Chaka Kahn
“Tell Me Something Good” from the album Rags to Rufus, released in 1974
Some critics think writer Stevie Wonder shouldn’t have given this song to Rufus. I disagree. While Stevie Wonder is amazing, Rufus’s version of “Tell Me Something Good” is magic captured in a bottle. It’s peak funk. It’s guitar, bass, and vocals (beautifully performed by Chaka Kahn) come together to create a sexy song that Stevie Wonder — while amazing — could not have pulled off by himself.
I like this song so much I reference it in my book, The ABCs of Dinkology: Death when my teenage protagonist, Max Dinkman, fantasizes about a sexual encounter with his friend’s beautiful mom. You should really check it out.
Though remember, it’s third in a series. ;)
