Project 365 Day #308

“Christmas Wrapping” from the album A Christmas Record, released in 1981

The song is almost rapped but it has that new wave sound. In many ways, it is one of the first popular genre mashups. In many ways, it might actually be one of the first popular ska songs. Not officially, mind you, but kind of.

Anyway, I like The Waitress’s “Christmas Wrapping” because it tells the story of how difficult life can be. It tells the story of a young woman who just wants a quiet Christmas alone after she’s dealt with quite a lot over the previous twelve months.

But there is Christmas magic here too.

So, you know, things don’t end up the way she wants them to and that might just be fine….

See what else I’ve placed on Project 365 here.
