Project 365 Day #276

Punk.
“Dancing With Myself” from the album Kiss Me Deadly, released in 1981
What? A band named Gen X does this song?!?!?
Uh, yeah.
It’s okay if you don’t know that. Not everyone is the musical scholar that I am. Anyway, by Gen X, we all know I mean Billy Idol. Idol was a mainstay in my 80s tape deck. Idol’s whole aesthetic (musical, visual, and otherwise) lies somewhere between post-apocalyptic B-movies, 1950s Saturday matinee horrors, and coke fueled 80s dance floors.
Though rock through and through, “Dancing With Myself” also has a fluid beat and a nice rhythm that can get anyone to tap their toes. The same holds true for a large part of Idol’s library… which is why you’ll see a few more of his bangers on this list before the sun sets on 2023.
