“Hot Summer” from the album Welcome 2 America, released in 2021
When I hear about a posthumous album I’m usually cautious. I study a bit to figure out if the release was just a money grab or something less savory. Well, I’m here to tell you Welcome 2 America is not one of those pure money grabs. So that is something. While it is not Prince’s best album, it contains “Hot Summer,” one of the best summertime party songs ever penned.
If that isn’t enough to make you want to give it a shot, especially as we inch toward fall, nothing is.
