Project 365 Day #194

“25 or 6 to 4” from the album Chicago, released in 1970
I’m not going to tell you that I am a Chicago superfan or anything like that. Their music has been called soft rock, yacht rock, jazz rock, and probably a few other things. I don’t know what’s right, but I do know they have a few bangers. “25 or 6 to 4” is the best one. No question.
It’s a combination of horns and guitars that every ska band everywhere should listen to and emulate. Peter Cetera’s smooth vocals underly the whole thing though. It’s a rock and roll sound that is somehow both soft and hard at the same time.
It’s been banned for supposed drug references too.
It doesn’t get much more rock and roll than that.
