“Bout to Get Ugly” from the album Here Comes the Fuzz, released in 2003
“Bout to Get Ugly” is — legit — top tier. Seriously, Ronson, Rhymefest, and Hamilton give listeners one of the best rock/rap songs ever released. It doesn’t have that unearned anger that Limp Bizkit possesses. It doesn’t have that fear of the future that Rage Against the Machine possesses. Though, to be fair, Rage is right to be afraid of the future…
Anyway.
“Bout to Get Ugly” is just a good song that hits all the beats right and gives Rhymefest space to just flow.
When a song does that, it is doing the right thing.
