“Paper Planes” from the album Kala, released in 2007
Wikipedia calls the genre of Paper Planes “alternative hip hop.” I’m not sure that’s accurate but I know I like it. I know I’m like one of those fake fans because M.I.A’s most well known song also happens to be my favorite.
I’m sorry.
I guess I’m fake.
But there is something about the simple beat combined with the hardcore lyrics and the children singing the chorus that does it for me.
