Red Hot Chili Peppers has been a consistent presence in my life since I was a teen. It is one of those consummate 90s rock groups that Generation X listened to a lot… whether we wanted to or not.
But whatever. It is still one of the most solid, most consistent rock bands out there. Are they the greatest rock band in the history of the world? No. Do you always know what they’re going to give you and is it always awesome (so awesome in fact that giant radio conglomerates and MTV will overplay their work)? Yes.
“Dani California” isn’t experimental. It isn’t mold breaking. It isn’t mind blowing. But it is a quintessential Red Hot Chili Peppers song. And that ain’t worth nothing.
