There used to be these music video shows on late at night. I first saw the video for this song on one of those shows when I was up late by myself as a nine year old for some reason.
Anyway.
I’ve been a fan ever since. With a distinctly new wave audio aesthetic, an angst driven chorus focusing on the fears we all had during the Cold War, and a simple, catchy beat, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is not only an 80s mainstay, but one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
