The early 2000s were a fun time in R&B and hiphop. I think, collectively, we were all kind of overwhelmed from the 90s gangsta rap popularity (not that it was bad). So when a lot of artists started releasing nothing but straight party bangers, we were all like, “Whoa. Yeah. Let’s dance.”
Ciara’s “1, 2 Step” captures that vibe so well that now, 19 years later, it is still a popular party song.
